Services:
My practice specializes in providing therapy to young children utilizing Child Centered Play Therapy.
I also incorporate working with parents/caregivers to implement strategies and understand and relate to their child more effectively and more lovingly.
To get technical, Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is a humanistic approach to therapy that is committed to providing a non-judgmental, emotionally supportive, therapeutic environment, with clear boundaries, to provide an atmosphere to the child that allows for the learning of emotional and behavioral self-regulation.
What does this mean for your child?
Play and movement are the natural ways that children communicate and make sense of the world around them. Even though your child may be smart and talkative, children have not yet reached the place in their development or life experience to fully benefit from a “talk” type of therapy the same way an adult can.
When I am using play therapy I am providing a safe outlet for children to express themselves that allows them to use their natural way of communicating and understanding. In a sense, the play is their language and I have been trained to understand and speak their language.
This makes play therapy the most developmentally appropriate approach to providing therapy to young children. The clear boundaries and limits also keep children grounded in reality and allow them to develop their own internal self-regulation.
Despite all this, I realize that no two people are the same, and as such tailor my therapy to meet the specific and unique needs of my clients. This means I may veer off the Child Centered Play Therapy track to incorporate other therapy techniques.

Insurance
For any insurance provider to cover mental health services, the person seeking services (child or adult) has to have a documented mental health diagnosis. I am an out of network provider for insurance companies. Therefore, if your provider offers out of network coverage and if your child has a documented mental health diagnosis, you may be able to receive reimbursement for my services. I can talk to you more about how this works and provide you with the necessary paperwork to give to your insurance company should you choose to utilize out of network coverage.
I accept cash and check. You may also be able to utilize your Flex Plan or Health Savings Account.
I do not directly bill insurance for a variety of reasons. Please contact me to learn more and to discuss all of this more in depth.
